| 内容記述 | This paper examines the ways that the current university entrance examination system in Japan has weakened standards for academic excellence. Today, university examinees fall into two groups: one group enters through a general or public entrance examination, the other through recommendations from their high schools. As a result, many universities face challenges from the disparity of academic abilities among their students, since those who enter by recommendations tend to lag behind. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Technology is planning to reform the examination system. The initial reforms include testing the academic ability of senior high school students before they take the university entrance examination. | |||||
