Based on the results of this analysis, it is clear that China’s food security strategy emphasizes basic self-sufficiency in grains, but in reality, the emphasis on imports has become more pronounced. In the future, in order to meet increasing domestic demand, China will secure stable farmland and food production （120 million hectares of farmland and food production of more than 650 million tons）, improve food security related regulations, promote the spread of domestic seeds, genetic modification technology, and smart agriculture, and expand food reserves, as well as promote investment overseas. Japan is expected to expand and diversify its import sources. Japan has been able to secure stable imports of corn, soybeans, and wheat so far because its imports are concentrated in one country, the United States.
