In Japan, this novel has been published under the name of Wakakusamonogatari, which means A Tale of Young Grass. It is said that this title first appeared in 1934, when Yada Tsuseko’s abridged translation was published and George Dewey Cukor’s movie, starring Katharine Hepburn, produced in 1933 in USA, was released in Japan.
