Nagaland and hill area of Manipur where Naga people inhabit were the battle fields of Battle of Imphal and Kohima between Japan and the Allies. Because of the intensity of the battle, it is well known by Japanese people and many stories of the soldiers’ experiences are written or broadcast on TV in Japan. However, the stories told by the local people in the battle grounds have scarcely been documented. This paper is a part of my project to document Naga people’s stories of their encounter with Japanese soldiers.
